How we look after the Mob
The Midnight Mob welcomes fans of every age, so we keep what we collect small and the rules simple.
No account needed to explore
- Player profiles, statistics, games and published answers are free to view without signing up.
What we collect, and why
- Midnight Mob membership: a first name, an age band and one email address (the fan’s own for fans 13 and older, or a parent or guardian’s for fans under 13) so we can confirm it’s you. A parent or guardian can also add their first name for our emails. No password, phone number, mailing address or purchase is needed to join.
- Welcome gift (optional): if a confirmed member chooses to claim it, we collect a recipient name and mailing address (street, city, state or province, postal or ZIP code and country). We use it only to send the gift.
- Ask the Ballers: your question and topic. A first name is optional, and shown only if you allow it.
- Share Your Game: a link, a short description and a private contact email so the team can follow up. You choose separately whether we may feature it and whether we may credit you by first name.
- Baller Shoutouts: the requester’s name and email, and the recipient’s first name or team nickname, whether it’s for one person or a team, whether anyone under 18 is included, the occasion and the message. Please don’t include schools, addresses, phone numbers or exact birth dates.
Younger fans and parents
- A fan under 13 must be signed up by a parent or guardian, who signs up on the child’s behalf with their own email. We never ask the child for an email address. The parent or guardian confirms that email first, then gives permission on a separate step. Confirming an email on its own never counts as permission, and the membership only starts once permission is given.
- We then email the parent or guardian a confirmation of that permission, with a link to withdraw it.
- For fans under 13 we keep only their first name and membership category. All emails, including any welcome gift steps, go to the parent or guardian, who provides and manages any mailing details.
- Fans aged 13 to 17 can join with their own email, and we encourage them to let a parent or guardian know. Before sharing a mailing address for the welcome gift, we ask them to check with a parent or guardian.
- Children’s ages, schools, locations, contact details and private submissions are never shown publicly. There is no public member directory, fan chat or fan-to-player messaging. Questions for players go through Ask the Ballers.
Emails
- We send the membership emails you need: confirmation, permission confirmation for parents and guardians, the welcome email, and updates about a gift request if you make one. Notification emails never repeat a mailing address.
- Team news and merchandise announcements are sent only if you opt in, separately from membership and the welcome gift, and every one includes an unsubscribe link.
Who can see your details, and for how long
- Membership, question, submission and shoutout records are visible only to team administrators. Players see only shoutout requests assigned to them, without the requester’s contact details.
- Mailing addresses for the welcome gift are visible only to administrators and the staff who pack and ship gifts. We delete them 90 days after the gift ships or the request is cancelled.
- Leaving the Mob (or, for parents and guardians, withdrawing permission) from the link in our emails deletes the membership, its email links and any gift request straight away.
Featured content
- We only feature moments the sender gave permission to share, and the team confirms any extra consent needed for identifiable children or other people first. Nothing is published automatically.
- Anyone shown in a feature can ask for it to be removed, and the team can unpublish it immediately.
- Personalized shoutout videos are delivered by private, expiring link and are not posted publicly unless the requester gives separate permission.
Contact the team
To ask about your data or request a removal, use the removal request form. It goes straight to the team’s private inbox. You can also leave the Mob or change your email choices from the manage link in any of our emails.
